The Fierté Montréal parade wound through downtown on Sunday, capping a week of Pride events. A separate Wild Pride march also took place, with participants protesting corporate sponsorship and police presence. Three dead in separate Quebec road accidents
Three people died and several others were left in critical condition after three separate road accidents across Quebec on Saturday night. One crash on Route 138 in Franquelin involved a vehicle losing control, killing one person and leaving three others in critical condition.

B.C. declares state of emergency as Bald Range wildfire forces 20,000 to flee
British Columbia declared a provincial state of emergency on Saturday as the fast-moving Bald Range wildfire forced the evacuation of more than 20,000 people. Prime Minister Mark Carney thanked firefighters and first responders and pledged federal support. Carney did not specify the dollar amount of assistance being offered.
Canada marks National Peacekeepers’ Day in Ottawa
Canadian peacekeepers who served around the world were honoured Sunday at a ceremony in Ottawa at Reconciliation: The Peacekeeping Monument. The day commemorates the nine Canadian Armed Forces members killed on August 9, 1974, in Syria.
Flooding at B.C. prison prompts transfer of 218 inmates
The Correctional Service of Canada temporarily relocated 218 inmates from Matsqui Institution in British Columbia after a burst water pipe caused significant flooding and damage at the medium-security federal facility. The transfers were carried out on Saturday.

Strikes overnight from Saturday into Sunday left seven people dead across Ukraine and Russia. Russian strikes killed two people and wounded dozens in Ukraine, while Ukrainian drone debris caused one injury and property damage in Novorossiïsk, Russia.
Iran issues new demands over Strait of Hormuz
Iran has presented the United States with a list of conditions for fully reopening the Strait of Hormuz, including compensation, an end to military threats, troop withdrawals, and the lifting of sanctions and asset freezes. The demands follow an alleged Iranian missile strike on a UAE oil tanker in the strait on August 8.
