RCMP charges 16 in Quebec cocaine trafficking bust
The RCMP laid charges against 16 people and arrested 15 in Quebec following a major cocaine trafficking investigation. Among those charged are Franco Lopez, 61, and Pasquale Lopez, 53, both from Montreal, who are believed to be members of the Lopez-Oliverio family. Authorities seized over $9 million in assets, including 14 kg of cocaine and more than $145,000 in cash.

Canada marks sixth National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Canadians across the country observed the sixth National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Wednesday, honouring residential school survivors and those who never returned home. Prime Minister Mark Carney spoke in Edmonton, saying the work of reconciliation is ‘far, far from finished’ and calling for deeper learning and action. The day, held each September 30, is also known as Orange Shirt Day.

Pilot stabs colleague on FlyDubai flight, passengers subdue attacker
A pilot aboard a FlyDubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv stabbed another pilot in what authorities described as an attempt to crash the aircraft, which was carrying dozens of Israelis. Passengers and crew intervened and subdued the attacker before the plane made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. No fatalities were reported among those on board.
